Cloning is the best backup for a bootable system volume SSD drive. I left the computer for 8 hours at the least until it moved into "install features" "Install updates" and more hours of waiting to "complete Installation". I also clicked the lock for good measure.

But could anybody explain to me why this may have caused a problem? Booting & Partitioning Once you’ve replaced your old drive you will, of course, want to boot up your PC to make sure everything is functioning well. Highlight HHD and click Configure.
